Well, I’ve gone and done it again… I’m making some changes to this little ‘ol site of mine. They’re almost ready to go live but I have some announcements to make first.

This site will be moving from a blogging format to a website format. I’ll still have the blogging site, especially since that’s how I’ll be making announcements about changes, giveaways, discounts, contests, etc. The only difference is that its being moved. And as such, you will need to subscribe to my RSS Feed to continue receiving these posts. You can subscribe by clicking on this link.
Munchkin Land Designs also has a Facebook page now! I swore I didn’t have time to maintain a Facebook page on top of everything else, but the times, they are a’changing. And I must change with them. Plus I figure it’s a great way to let everyone know about new posts too. So if you don’t want to subscribe via Feedburner, head on over and click Like on the Facebook page. You’ll also notice that I update new designs over there faster than I do the gallery on this site.
I’m updating and revamping my “Other Fun Links” page. I really want to feature YOU, the women who have home-based businesses such as Scentsy, Thirty-One, Arbonne, monogramming, headbands, and any other home-based businesses. This will be at no cost to you, consider it a directory of sorts. If you’re interested, send a quick email to jenn (at) munchkinland-designs.com with the name of your business, a link to your site, and where you feel your business best fits in these categories:

What Blissdom Meant to Me

It was never about the size of my audience. And I can say that without irony because I’ve been doing this blogging thing since 2005 and I have less than 300 followers on my personal blog. It makes me laugh. Its never been about growing my circle of influence or to follow a formula for success. I’ve started to feel like a fish out of water these last few years because this blogging landscape has changed dramatically in a short time. I couldn’t find my niche, my place, in this new world of sponsors, stats, and ratings. I may have even gotten a bit prideful in the fact that I was still one of the few that hadn’t given in to the pressures of monetizing my blog.

Its been said that pride goeth before a fall…

This weekend gave me a fresh perspective and passion for blogging, on family, on friends, and how no matter the size of our audience, we all have a very specific story to tell. It’s a story that no one can tell quite like you. A story that will speak to someone’s heart or situation in just that moment, or in just the right way.

I’ve been writing and creating for as long as I can remember. From a very early age, there’s been this desire in me to pour out all the colors, the words, the thoughts that were spinning in my head. Even now I feel like have curse because I usually have 10 different ideas going at once. Starting my blog in 2005 was the perfect outlet for me. Having an almost-one-year-old, I needed a place to record my thoughts, my emotions, my story. From the moment I hit publish on my first post, I knew exactly that blogging was going to be an amazing journey for me. And truth be told, any negative moments in this journey has been significantly outweighed by the positives. I don’t think I’ll ever look back and regret that I’ve put myself out there on the world wide web.

This weekend was so much more than getting to meet these women that I call friends online. It was so much more than putting together the perfect formula to build a successful blog. For me, it was the coming together of like minded women. Women who have reached out into the internet space and shared their hearts. For me, it was being in a room of women who “get” me in some way. Whether its similar, shared experiences as a mother, or discussing colors and patterns and ideas with fellow designers, or women who love the integration of social and media. I thoroughly loved that there was a spot for everyone. There was so much empowerment, encouragement, and beauty in this weekend. It was an honor to be there and I’m so very excited to see what’s born of some of these new ideas in my head.

Thank you to the ladies who brought us all together, thank you for “getting” us, and thank you for believing that we each have a story worth sharing!

I Am Going, Are You?

Well, if you follow me on Twitter, then you know how very excited I am about an upcoming trip. A trip that will include meeting and connecting with a lot of former, current, and (hopefully) future clients. There are so many women going that I just can’t wait to shake hands with, hug, and otherwise just get to know face-to-face.

Next month, I’ll be in Nashville, Tennessee at a blogging conference called Blissdom. Have you heard of it? Have you been before? Do you have any advice for this conference newbie?

I have so many mixed emotions about this trip! Some Mommy Guilt about leaving the Littles behind with my husband and family… Anxiety about whether or not people will actually like me… Disbelief that I’m packing my bags for 5 days and flying off to a conference where I don’t know a single soul… Excitement over getting to learn from some leading professionals in the online/internet industry… And I’m absolutely giddy (GIDDY!) that I will have 5 full days all by myself. BY MYSELF. I haven’t had 5 days to myself since before I was married, almost 10 years ago. To say that I’m looking forward to this alone time is an understatement. As I tweeted last week, I’ll get to sleep, interact with adults, and actually read, and stuff. I can’t wait!

A few things to note before closing…

I’ve added 9 new designs to the galllery! Be sure to check them out! Do you have a favorite?

My current design schedule is currently about 4-6 weeks. We’ve had a recent influx of orders and I’m trying desperately to get back on schedule. (Y’all know how to keep a girl busy!)

Its Been a While

To say that Munchkin Land Designs was busy in November and December is an understatement. Christmas cards were designed, blog designs were created, and all of my girls (three of them) have birthdays in November and December. Throw in Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I feel like I was on the verge of an anxiety attack the whole time.

But I didn’t. And we survived.

Almost 50 new designs have been added to the gallery during this time. So please check those out and let me know which are your favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed working on each of them! Such great clients, with fun ideas. I’m a blessed woman!

A few things to note…

I just sent out emails today to those that have earned Referral Rewards credits towards future projects with Munchkin Land Designs. If you’re interested in learning more about the Referral Rewards program, you can click on the tab at the top.
Speaking of the tabs, notice anything new? I’ve streamlined the site a little, took some stuff off the navigation bar and added three new tabs at the top. Check it out and let me know what you think!
I’ve been throwing around the idea of creating a few premade templates. The Christmas designs were incredibly popular, and a few have expressed interest in some year-round designs. So stay tuned for the reveal!
I’ve updated the Testimonials page with new, recent testimonies from clients. Their sweet, kind words made my day. Thank you!!
And last, but not least, we’re doing a Deluxe Blog Design giveaway contest on Twitter this month! Monday, January 30th, to be exact. We’ll be playing at 7:00pm (MST) and hope you’ll join us!

Little Elves at Work

Normally I’m not a big fan of celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving. I usually like celebrating one holiday at time, especially Thanksgiving because it tends to get lost between all the candy from Halloween and Christmas. But this year I got caught up in the spirit of the holiday a little early and I’ve been hard at work on Christmas blog designs and Christmas cards. Well, y’all have gone and done it again! You’ve kept me insanely busy! So much so that I haven’t had time to get on here with updates on the goings-on with Munchkin Land Designs. I have much to share with you all, but let’s get to the important stuff first.

There will be another Twitter contest/blog design giveaway this month. And its actually going to be Thursday night this time around at 7:30pm (MST). (If you’re concerned about time zones, just know that eastern time is 2 hours ahead of us and pacific time is an hour behind. I hope that helps.) Make sure you follow me on the Twitter and when that time rolls around, let the scavenger hunt begin! I remember the heart palpitations and sweaty palms the day I actually hit publish on my first post for Munchkin Land Designs. It took a lot of pep talks and encouragement from the sisters and Jon to get me to actually open up shop. My sister, Courtney, was especially instrumental in helping me come up with a name and look for my design site. I am indebted to those who had confidence in me, when I did not.

Two years. Still a baby in so many ways, and yet I can’t even begin to wrap my head around all that has happened in these two years. I started out with a basic blog design package, fumbling my way through computer coding. With each design, I ventured into more complex coding and new design features. I never imagined that 200+ blog designs later, I’d be offering Wordpress and website design support. I have enjoyed being challenged and learning new skills.

I am humbled, so completely speechless, by the support of you all. Each client has entrusted me with a vision and allowed me the honor and privilege of bringing that vision to life. Thank you!

An Upcoming Milestone

Munchkin Land Designs is coming up on an important milestone… A 2 year birthday! And unlike most 2-year-olds, I promise that Munchkin Land Designs won’t be going through any terrible twos. Ha!

To celebrate, I’ve been coming up with some great ideas to celebrate. It includes a grand prize, a 1st place price, gift certificates, and door prizes. “How?” you ask. I’ll explain it all in just a couple of weeks, so stay tuned…

There’s a lot going on in Munchkin Land Designs.

I recently just added 15 new designs to the gallery, so definitely go check those out. There’s quite the variety, and I thoroughly enjoyed working on each one. Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy doing what I do?! I have?! Oh well, it begs to be said again!

I’m also adding a new item to my a la carte menu. I’ve had a number of requests for social media button, so I’ve officially added them to my menu. For $10 you can choose up to three (3) different social media buttons. I’ll coordinate them with your current design, and install them for you too.

And lastly, I still have a premade Elite design for sale at a fraction of the original price. Let me know if you’re interested in an invite to see a live preview of the design.

Occasionally from time to time, we have a blog design that either goes unclaimed or the client decides to go a completely different route. When that happens, I will often offer the design at a discounted price. This time around, the client has decided to go in a different direction, so I get to offer this beautiful design to one of you.

Wow! I have no words to describe how awed I was by the comments from you all! The entries for this giveaway far exceeded any expectations I had. And the number of followers increased by almost 100. Again, I’m just so thankful for your encouragement and support!

I have been working really hard on a new look for Munchkin Land Designs and can't wait to share it with you all! Its completely different from what I currently have and, I think, its more fun. I hope to have it up early next week. Which means I'll be taking this site down to set it up. If my site isn't here when you visit, I promise I'll be back soon. Another busy month for Munchkin Land Designs... 14 new designs in the gallery to check out! I have a few favorites, but I'm wondering if you have any favorites too.

I also added a few new testimonials to the recommendation page. Reading through the emails made me so thankful for the kind words they shared with me and you. Customer service is important to me and I'm always thankful when clients share that they felt they received great customer service from Munchkin Land Designs.

Whew! Another busy month for Munchkin Land Designs, and I’m not complaining! Quite the opposite. Thank you for entrusting me with your ideas and visions for your blogs. It’s a privilege to work with you and bring those ideas to life. Thank you!!

A couple of announcements for y’all.

Munchkin Land Designs is now offering Wordpress designs! I’m so excited that I’ll be able to offer these designs on a new platform. If you or someone you know is looking for a Wordpress designer, I hope you’ll send them this way.
We’re also offering a new package on the Blogger platform. It’s the Website package, and includes everything you need to start a website on Blogger.

Discounted Blog Design, Anyone?

Every once in a while I'll complete a gorgeous design and the client says they're happy with it but for whatever reason abandons the design. Such is the case with one of my recent designs and I've decided to approach it a little different this time around. Instead of losing money on a design that I've already completed, why not offer it to someone who might like to buy it at a discount. Anyone interested?

Its a Basic Design package with an added navigation bar, usually costing $55. Instead I'm offering it to one lucky client at $20. If you're interested, please send me an email at jenn (at) munchkinland-designs (dot) com, and I'll send you a complete preview of the design to help you decide.

I realize that its been over two months since I've posted on this site, and for that I apologize. I hate to leave y'all hanging, but I think I have some good excuses.

One, our newest little munchkin, Ashlynn Rose, was born on December 1st. We've been a little busy with our newborn and helping the older three Littles adjust to having a new baby in the house. Have I mentioned how blessed I'm feeling at the moment?!

And secondly, y'all have kept me BUSY! As I updated my gallery and looked over the designs I've done these past two months, I can't believe that I completed 25 designs in that time. Wow! I'm alternately awed and humbled by the clients that I get to work with.

I'm working on a few more designs that I hope to post soon, and some new projects too. One of which includes learning the ins and outs of Wordpress and I hope to be able to offer services on that platform too. Eventually. I'm a little intimidated by it, but I'm also stubborn too.

And even though I'm posting quick peeks of the designs I finished in this post, I highly suggest you check out the gallery and sites directly. I hope y'all are having a great 2011!
